Feeling: Outraged yet Thankful
I’m not a Christian.....but sign me up for this guy’s ministry!
speak, man, speak!
I know that Obama resigned from this Church because of all the controversy it’s generated recently. I’m just sad that we have become so week of moral fabric that we now dismiss the truth as mere controversy, when it is the truth and a truth that needed desperately to be said. Instead we call for sanctioning, punishing and ostracizing those that speak the truth, but i suppose, Jesus would not be surprised at this.
What i find actually offensive is Hillary’s terrible hiding behind accusations of sexism, rather than standing up and examining the blatant lies that have been a part of every step as her campaign, and admitting that she deserves to be called out for her behavior. In fact, the press and the public has been more than generous with her- as Keith Olberman pointed out (see my last entry) people have forgiven her for a heap of transgressions.
As a life-long feminist, I want to make perfectly clear that there is nothing sexist about this election process, or anything this man says.
I for one, am glad he said it.

I am a Christian, and I LOVE ministers like Rev. Pfleger and Rev. Wright! They're not terribly unlike my own pastor (just a bit more flamboyant, though), in that they speak the cold, hard, difficult truths so many people don't want to discuss, particularly in light of the teachings of Jesus. My pastor spoke on this issue briefly today, and he said he was glad this has all happened, because this sort of thing needs to be discussed, even if the very people who should be discussing it are loathe to do so.
Of course Jesus would not be surprised at this. Remember, the very people He came to liberate turned around and called for His execution because He made controversial statements and claims (sound familiar?).
I understand Obama's political reasons for leaving his church, but I can't respect him as a man for it. In fact, I'm even more likely to vote for Cynthia McKinney in November if she's on the ballot (and I hope she will be).

You are a racist, a feminist, you think you deserve money from the white man and the government for slavery yet tout self-sufficiency . . . I don't understand mental infants like you Damali.
Have you ever taken a close look at the people that you attract and support you? They are co-dependent just like you.
The radical liberals that you attract all want something from others and simply jump on your wagon and then you spoon feed them your idiotic arguments. Obama attended "his" church for 20 years and you just waive it off and dismiss the racial frenzy of it's congregate.
Again, if a conservative or republican were to say something anything close to what Wright and Pfleger said, you would tar, feather and noose them up . . . and NEVER forgive.
Don't assume you or any of your readers know what Christ would say or do . . . He didn't Sacrifice His life because of saying controversial things like the last commenter wrote . . . He died to save us from our wretched humanness (sin). Christ is the Savior of the world, not your or anyone's political argument maker. The pulpit isn't a political forum.
This Trinity Church is just a political podium . . . the congregation, Obama and you should be ashamed for supporting this church and it's view . . . I figured you of all people would understand, being a victim of slavery and racists as you have . . . huh!

Would you agree that its rather a stretch for you to call thousands of people you've never met and know nothing about "co-dependent"? Is that some sort of attempt to minimize everyone who's not you with one big sweeping "I'm right, and you're all co-dependent". Come on.
Please seek out this essay FYI: Of National Lies & Racial Amnesia: Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama and the Unacceptability of Truth, by Tim Wise.
Also the comment above yours didn't say Jesus sacrificed his life because of saying controversial things. It said people turned around and called for his execution because he made controversial statements.
ie. The controversial statements were motivation for the people calling for the execution, not the motivation for Jesus accepting it.

Christ's statements and claims were the truth. It was our blinding sin that murdered Christ, not a statement or claim. Christ died blameless.
What Damali, Obama, Jeremiah Wright, Pfleger and the people I mentioned in my response are nursing on the oppressed minds of needy people. People who WON'T strive to better their situation through the opportunities that freedom provides . . . and who rather create new organizations that only create more of the same type of needy person is co-dependent.
Damali, Wright, Obama, Pfleger all feel people like me own them reparations, or support, or should pay for something not even one of my descendants were responsible for. Co-dependent people rely on the pandering of others. They don't want to listen to truth. They don't want to do anything on their own. They feel others own them something . . . no different than what Pfleger said about Hillary Clinton.
That blindness to the truth is what weakens my country that invented freedom . . . Damali and her followers only wantto take from this country . . . they don't want to give to freedom.
What more do you need to understand my comment on co-dependency?

This is the heart of the matter among different ideologies - you perceive humans as being flawed, wretched, full of sin and in need of salvation.
Others of us see humans as flawed, yes, but also capable of progress and evolution to a higher consciousness and mindfulness, absent religion. It's really just a difference of opinion, nothing to get upset about, but to explore and try to see where we agree and are the same, rather than always emphasizing the differences that divide us.
United we stand, people. Happy Independence Day! Tom in Sheboygan
